Everything including the kitchen sink...

So now that we've been in our house for about a month I'm starting to get settled in and re-prioritizing our home improvement projects. The biggest concern I have right now is my kitchen storage, or lack of, and where I am going to put all my stuff. I admit, I have a lot of things for the kitchen- serving pieces, baking tools, gadgets, electronics, and most of all dishes and glassware. But I love my stuff and use almost all of it with regularity. It's killing me to think of putting a lot of this stuff away from the kitchen, either in upstairs closets or downstairs storage. I like my stuff accessible. The toughest part is I can't come up with any solutions. Normally I also teach to use the walls for storage. Guess what, I have absolutely NO wall space in my kitchen. It's all cupboards or windows. So... Then I'd say use doorways, but I don't even have a pantry so there's no door there. It's going to be interesting. I look at all of these ideas from IKEA or the Container Store for storage solutions and am trying to find ways to implement them in my kitchen. I guess for now I'm resigned to just putting the "must haves" in the kitchen and storing my extras away. If you've got any ideas of what you've done to save space in a small kitchen send it my way.

Here's my dream kitchen...

Expert Advice

So I was watching this show that I get on my non-cable tv called "Steven & Chris" from the CBC network. They had a designer on there who was sharing some of her tips for design. One of her tips is all about large wall spaces... instead of hanging 1 large piece in the middle the trend is to do a wall collage of at least 3 pieces. It is much more interesting to look at, gives you more choices and allows you to add on as your collect new pieces. I love this idea and is one I've been trying to share at my home shows. You'll get to see it soon in hard copy but here's a picture from the soon to be released Willow House FALL 2012 catalog of a perfect example of a wall collage... tell me what you think of this look?
